there are certain movies that make you laugh, make you cry, and/or make you feel. but it is a rare occurence for a movie to completely envelope your emotions and give you an outright experience of escapism. for a movie to make you forget that there is a world outside of it. this movie, "running with scissors," is such a movie. not just because the all-star cast demands this, but because the eccentricity of the memoir being portrayed is almost unbelievable, yet as real as drinking a glass of water. the pyschological elements of unconsciousness and outright dirty honesty are on full display and leave you wondering how you ever arrived at being such a square. if you want to have an experience of emotional shock and sheer existential pain, this movie is for you.
