the john lennon longing

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

for the next bit i will be posting a series on religion. not only does our contemporary situation demand this type of dialogue, but humanity itself is at a crossroads. a fork; one that could decide our future. i hope mankind continues to evolve into higher states of consciousness. the majority of my posts for this series will be my thoughts from the book by Richard Dawkins, "The God Delusion."

here's a sample:

"Imagine, with John Lennon, a world with no religion. Imagine no suicide bombers, no 9/11, no 7/7, no Crusades, no witch-hunts, no Gunpowder Plot, no Indian partition, no Israeli/Palestinian wars, no Serb/Croat/Muslim massacres, no persecution of Jews as 'Christ-killers', no Northern ireland 'troubles', no shiny-suited bouffant-haired televangelists fleecing gullible people out of their money, no Taliban to blow up ancient statues, no public beheadings of blasphemers, no flogging of female skin for the crime of showing an inch of it."

more to come...

All very true, but imagine a world without hope, without love, without meaning. You know I love you Trevor, go ahead, express yourself! What's crazy, is if most people followed the teachings of the religions they represent, the world should be a BETTER place, but I guess we just screw it up.

congrats on the blog, hopefully I will join you soon. by the way it's not about a religion it's about a relationship. take that one to the bank. it was good hanging out with you the other day. talk to you soon.

bogie: here's some satire. can you really have a relationship with someone invisible? how so?

i was kidding. but yeah, you can because i do, and its real in the sense that I have actual interactions with Him. i talk, He talks. i think others including new age, satanists, etc would say they have actual relationships with spirit-beings and guides as well. your thoughts...

what makes an interaction actual? or factual? it is impossible to prove that God talks. you are totally free to say the relationship is by faith, but it is still unproven and therefore remains only personally subjective and not objectively true for anyone else. i'm playing the devils advocate of course. but at the end of the day i still think i want to call it something other than a relationship.

i keep trying to comment but they don't go through. I was basically saying that I don't need to prove whether or not my interactions with God are real. i would ask them to determine that for themselves by attempting to interact with God. i don't know if there is an objective way to determine that. I also wouldn't know what to call it other than a relationship. Any ideas?
